This match begins on February 15, 2010, and runs until midnight (EDT) on March 31, 2010. You must be a member of AAPS to compete in this event. Of course, nothing prevents you from setting up and shooting the match at home without being a member, but only AAPS members will have their scores posted and compete for medals and classification points. You can join AAPS by submitting the online application form. There are membership categories for U.S. residents as well as international competitors. http://www.aaps-federation.org/apply.html Access full details of the February Postal Match here: http://www.aaps-federation.org/aaps2/aaps2_003.htm Good luck and good shooting! So I'm assuming that with the stopper plate, a shot timer is necessary to enter these matches. I don't really have a bill to drop on a new timer right now so has anyone heard of making one? say like from an electronic stopwatch with an input line from a stop plate?
Thanks

Assuming you have a shot timer or stop watch, here's the policy for there use.
If no stop plate is available, then the competitor can be timed with a stop watch (+ 0.01 s) or a shot counter operated by another person. In either case, the last shot must be on a popper or a popper template positioned as described under setup. If a stopwatch is used, the clock should be stopped when the shooter hits the stop plate. If a shot timer is used, then 0.05 seconds must be added to the total time to compensate for the average time it takes for a BB to travel 15 feet. The timing method must be described on the submission form.
I think if you have a shot timer that a second person to operate isn't necessary.

We should update the postal match info page. It still states: Quote: Special Considerations: There are no special considerations for this postal match. Competitors must use AAPS regulation GBB pistols, holsters, and targets. Timing must be done with a stop plate. I'm all for dropping that last line, and going back to the timing that you just described.

Glad to see there is a postal match up and running. I submitted my info but will probably have to wait until next month to shoot. I haven't touched any pistols since I shot the US Ipsc Nationals last October. Looking forward to get back into it.
Also do we have to pass the test to get a membership? I joined Aaps last yr and that requirement was waived.

No test required currently. And you can shoot this month if you want. For previous members that re-join we're using your previous ID number.

Postal matches will be monthly. So a new one will be posted on April 1st and run through April 30th. And so on.
Thanks for participating!

Hopefully we can get some guys that used to shoot the Aaps matches. You have any way of contacting them to let them know??
I have already posted on the forums at BrianEnos.com to try and get some guys to shoot the matches.
