| This match begins on April 20, 2009,
and runs until midnight (EDT) on May 31, 2009. You must be a member of AAPS in order to submit scores for this match.
Of course, nothing prevents you from setting up and shooting the match
at home without being a member, but only AAPS members will have their
scores posted and compete for medals and classification points.
You can join AAPS by submitting the online application form. There
are membership categories for U.S. residents as well as international
competitors. Good luck and good shooting! Setup: Two AAPS "A" paper targets (T1 and T2) are mounted vertically. The center of T1 is between 50" and 55" from the ground and the center of T2 is between 32" and 36" from the ground. T1/T2 are 13' from the fault line and directly in front of shooting box B. Both T1 and T2 are partially obscured with no-shoot targets as shown in the illustration below. Target T3 is an AAPS "B2" paper target. The center of T1 is between 50" and 55" from the ground and it is 11' from the fault line directly in front of shooting box A. The centers of T3 and T1/T2 are 5' apart. Poppers CP1, CP2, and CP3 are mounted 12" to 18" off the ground (measured to the center). They are spaced 12" to 15" apart. Popper CP3 is located directly in front of shooting box B and 10' from it. Poppers CP1 and CP2 are 8' and 9' from the fault line respectively. The stop plate is positioned 10' in front of the fault line and directly inline with shooting box A. The center of the stop plate is 32" to 36" off the ground. Poppers CP4 and CP5 are mounted one foot in front of the stop plate and spaced between 20" and 24" apart. A small table or stool is placed in front of shooting box A and shooting box B. The table in front of shooting box A holds the handgun and a magazine. The table in front of shooting box B holds a magazine. Handguns used in this postal match must comply with AAPS regulations (Rules 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3). Start: The competitor begins in shooting box A facing the targets with hands in pockets. The pistol is unloaded, the chamber is empty, and the hammer is down. On the start signal, the competitor picks up the handgun, moves to shooting box B, loads the magazine, racks the slide, and engages CP1, CP2, CP3, and T1/T2 in any order. The shooter then moves to shooting box A while performing a non-retention reload (drop the magazine on the floor or into a box). Once in shooting box A, the shooter loads the magazine from the table and engages CP4, CP5, and T3 in any order, and then shoots the stop plate. Only two shots are allowed at each of the targets T1, T2, and T3. There is no limit to the number of shots that can be made on the poppers or the stop plate. A 10 point procedural penalty is assessed for every shot taken while part of the shooter's body is touching the ground outside a shooting box. If the mandatory reload is not performed, there is a 10 point penalty assessed for every shot taken until the reload is performed. Scoring: Your score must be reported as a hit factor. Your hit factor is your total target score (minus any misses and penalties) divided by your time. Hit factors must be reported to two decimal places. Shots in the "A" zone count 5 points each, "C" zone hits are worth 3 points each, and hits in the "D" zone count one point each. Shots in the non-scoring border area count 0 points. Poppers score 5 points each. For any shot that misses a paper target or hits a no-shoot target you must subtract 10 points from you score. If more than two shots are taken at a paper target, then a penalty of 10 points must be subtracted from your score for each extra shot and the hit from the extra shot is not counted for scoring. Hits in the hard cover area (the black areas of the targets) do not count for scoring and are not assessed a penalty. A hit is scored based on the location where the BB entered the target and does not include tears radiating out from the point of impact. If the BB diameter of a hit touches the line between two or more scoring areas or between a non-scoring and scoring area, the higher value should be scored. The maximum target score for this match is 55 (6 "A" zone hits at five points each plus five poppers at 5 points each). To calculate your hit factor, divide your target score by your time (recorded to the nearest 0.01 s) and report the results to two decimal places. The higher your hit factor, the better your score. The complete set of AAPS rules for scoring can be found at http://www.aaps-federation.org/Documents/Scoring_Rules.pdf. Special
