| This month's Postal Match involves
movement
as well as shooting with the weak hand.
This postal match
requires the use of an approved holster and a stop plate/timer for
timing. Setup: This match uses one AAPS "F" paper target (T2), and two "A" targets (T1 and T3). Target T2 is placed 15' in front of shooting box A (measured from the front edge of the box) and targets T1 and T3 are positioned two feet on either side of T2. Targets T1 and T3 are between 50" and 55" off the ground and target T2 is between 30" and 36" off the ground. The stop plate is located one foot in front of T3 and is between 30" and 36" off the ground. The front edge of shooting box B is placed 10' in front of target T2 and inline with shooting box A. The magazine drop box may be placed anywhere it is convenient. The shooting boxes measures 30" x 30". Start: The competitor begins standing in shooting box A facing the targets in the surrender position. The pistol is holstered and in the loaded and ready condition. On the start signal, the competitor draws and engages T1, T2, and T3 in any order by firing two shots into each target. The shooter then moves to shooting box B, performs a non-retention reload, and, using the weak hand only, engages targets T1, T2, and T3 in any order by firing two shots into each target. After shooting all three targets, the competitor then shoots the stop plate. Only two shots are allowed on each paper target. There is no limit to the number of shots that can be made on the stop plate. While shooting from boxes A and B, no part of the body may touch the ground outside the box. Your score should be reported as a "Hit Factor" (see the scoring section below). Scoring: For this postal match, you must report your score as a hit factor. Your hit factor is your total target score (minus any misses and penalties) divided by your time. Hit factors must be reported to two decimal places. Shots in the "A" zone count 5 points each, "C" zone hits are worth 3 points each, and hits in the "D" zone count one point each. Shots in the non-scoring border area count 0 points. For any shot that misses the target or hits a no-shoot target you must subtract 10 points from you score. If more than two shots are taken at a paper target during each string, then a penalty of 10 points must be subtracted from your score for each extra shot and the hit from the extra shot is not counted for scoring. Hits in the hard cover area (the black areas of the targets) do not count for scoring and are not assessed a penalty. A hit is scored based on the location where the BB entered the target and does not include tears radiating out from the point of impact. If the BB diameter of a hit touches the line between two or more scoring areas or between a non-scoring and scoring area, the higher value should be scored. The maximum target score for this match is 60 (12 "A" zone hits at five points each). To calculate your hit factor, divide your target score by your time (recorded to the nearest 0.01 s) and report the results to two decimal places. The higher your hit factor, the better your score. The complete set of AAPS rules for scoring can be found at http://www.aaps-federation.org/Documents/Scoring_Rules.pdf. Special
